Assessment occurs throughout the term and is gathered via a range of modes including projects, assignments, supervised assessments, collection of work, presentations, written response and investigations. Our staff use diagnostic, formative and summative assessments throughout the term.
Diagnostic assessment is used to identify areas for improvement in mathematics, reading and writing. The main purpose of formative assessment is to provide feedback (information and guidance) to students and teachers to help ensure success throughout the term. Summative assessments are used to measure student achievement against the Australian Curriculum achievement standards. These assessments are used to report on student's achievement throughout the semester. Prior to assigning grades, student work is moderated across classes and at different points in the year with a cluster group of schools.
Parents receive written reports about their child/children’s achievement and progress at the end of semester one and semester two. These reports are emailed to parents.
Parent teacher interviews occur at the end of term one and term three. However, parents are encouraged to arrange a time to meet with teachers throughout the year as required to discuss student progress.
Students in Years 3 and 5 also participate in NAPLAN. NAPLAN is a national test of literacy and numeracy administered in May each year. Individual student results are usually received by parents in Semester Two. In 2023, NAPLAN is moving to a new date in 15 - 27 March (Term 1).
