Our school is active and participates in a range of activities in the local community.
Parades
Parades are held on Mondays at 2:30pm and are a celebration of the achievements of the past week. Children assemble in their houses and student leaders conduct the parade. School news is shared, performances may be given and awards are presented. Parents and school community members are welcome at these parades (subject to COVID safe restrictions). Children are encouraged to wear a house polo shirt for parade. This is a standard uniform item and is available from the P&C uniform shop.
OWLETS Playgroup
Marshall Road State School Owlets Playgroup would like to invite families to attend a Playsteps Program, supported by the school, each Friday of the school term. Thereis NO weekly fee. Playgroup sessions follow a regular routine with access to a safe outdoor play area. A range of structured and unstructured activities followed by a story/music time will be provided for children 0-5 years. Children must be accompanied by a parent, grandparent or carer. If you interested, please register with the school office, via admin@marshallroadss.eq.edu.au, BEFORE attending.
ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day
Marshall Road students observe ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day with school services conducted by senior students. Student participation is important and representatives from every class lay a wreath while the school band or choir provide musical backing.
In association with these events, the student councillors sell ANZAC badges or Remembrance Day poppies on behalf of the RSL.
Each year, the Holland Park / Mt Gravatt Combined RSL invite Marshall Road students to participate in the local ANZAC Day march and ceremony. About 60 of our students march each year and the school captains represent the school by laying a wreath at the base of the Holland Park RSL memorial.
