Enrolling at school is an important and exciting process.  Marshall Road State School has a School Enrolment Management Plan (EMP) to ensure adequate provision for all students who live in the Marshall Road Catchment.  The following website will help determine if your residential address is in our catchment area.  Students who live within our catchment area are guaranteed enrolment at our school.

Current Enrolment

If you are enrolling your child for the current academic year, you will be contacted via our Enrolment Officer, Lisa Lovett, once your enrolment has been processed.  Our Enrolment Officer will then coordinate an enrolment interview with one of our Leadership Team members.

Prep Enrolments

An application for Prep enrolment is submitted in the year prior to commencement.  Children must be 5 by 30 June in the year they enrol.  To determine when your child can commence their prep year, use the prep ready reckoner calculator.

If you reside outside of our catchment area, your Prep enrolment application will be placed on a waitlist and offers will be made in sequential order depending on availability within our Prep classes.

  • 2027 Prep enrolment applications will open on Tuesday 27 January 2026 from 7:00am.  This process will be transitioning to an electronic application - more information will be available in Term 3, 2025.
International Students

Information for international students who want to study at a Queensland Government School can be found on the Education Queensland International website.  This may include proof of Australian Citizenship or Visa - including Date of Entry and an Authority to Enrol email fron Education Queensland International.  Marshall Road State School is unable to accept any short-term enrolments for international students.

Exemption from Compulsory Schooling

Every parent of a child of compulsory school age has a legal obligation to ensure their child is enrolled and attending school.  An application for exemption for a child enrolled in a Queensland State School is to be lodged with the Principal for any periods of more than ten consecutive school days.

The school Principal may grant an exemption with or without special conditions.  The school Principal is not responsible for providing an educational program to any child exempt from compulsory schooling.  Parents are encouraged to contact the Brisbane School of Distance Education website for information on accessing the appropriate curriculum while on extended exemptions from school.

We look foward to meeting you and your family and welcoming you to our community.
