Welcome to Prep at Marshall Road State School. We are excited to share our amazing school with your family.
The early years of learning are among the most significant periods of growth for children. Experiences during this time not only affect cognitive, social and physical development, but also deeply influence dispositions to learning and children's values of themselves as learners.
At Marshall Road State School, the Prep program is designed to cater for each child's interests and needs and to foster a love of learning. We aim to set our future students up for success through a comprehensive "Get Set for Prep" transition program.
Prep Enrolments
- All applications for 2027 Prep enrolments will open here on Tuesday 27 January 2026 from 9:00am.
Please have electronic copies of the following documentation organised to assist with completing your enrolment application form:
- Student's birth certificate. Please note: if both parents were not born in Australia, you must provide proof of your child's Australian citizenship (e.g. Australian passport, Australian citizenship certificate), PLUS proof of parent's immigration status if BOTH parents are recorded as born overseas on child's birth certificate
- Proof of residency requirements: Parents or legal guardians who wish to enrol their child at the school are required to demonstrate that the student's principal place of residence is within the catchment area. Current proof of residency at the address indicated can be provided as follows:
- One primary source – a current lease agreement (the lease agreement must be for 12 months or longer from the child's commencement at school), rates notice, or unconditional contract of sale, AND
- One secondary source – a utility bill (e.g. electricity, gas) showing this same address and parent's/legal guardian's name. If the principal is not satisfied that the documentation provided by an applicant adequately demonstrates that the address stated is the student's principal place of residence, then the principal may request further sources of proof of residency.

Prep Tour and Information Session
Throughout the year, we conduct several Prep Tour and Information Sessions to provide details about our approach to teaching and learning in the early years with an opportunity to meet our Leadership Team. Our student captains also take families on a tour of the school grounds and Prep classrooms. Register your interest in attending one of our Prep Tours and Information Sessions.
Prep Enrolment Interviews
Prep enrolment interviews are an opportunity for families to meet with a Leadership Team member or a member of the Prep Team to discuss your child's transition to school. Bookings open for Prep enrolment interviews once your enrolment is confirmed.

Prep Transition Program - 'Get Set for Prep'
A series of three orientation sessions for enrolled students throughout Term 4, providing children with real Prep experience. A fourth 'Meet the Teacher' session is also offered where children meet their Prep teacher and spend time in their classroom with their new class mates. A series of information workshops for parents will also be offered during this time.

Playgroup
Our school runs a MRSS Owlets playgroup for 0 – 5 years children on Friday mornings from 9am – 10:30am throughout the year.
