At Marshall Road State School, our Prep program is of the highest quality. Our experienced teachers are dedicated to providing an engaging, supportive environment for the first year of school. Teachers make deliberate choices from a range of age-appropriate pedagogies to capture the interests and learning styles of our Prep students.
Prep students are engaged in age-appropriate learning experiences that makes education engaging and accessible. Literacy and numeracy, as well as social skills, have an important focus in early education.
All parent/caregivers who wish to enrol their student at Marshall Road State School are required to complete an Enrolment Application Form. This information can be found on our 'Enrolling at our school' page.
Applications for enrolment in Prep 2026 are now open. Check out the prep ready reckoner calculator (https://www.qld.gov.au/education/earlychildhood/prep/enrolments ) to see when your child is eligible for Prep.
Our school has an Enrolment Management Plan https://education.qld.gov.au/parents-and-carers/enrolment/management-plans/marshall-road-state-school . Please visit the Department of Education edMap https://www.qgso.qld.gov.au/maps/edmap/ , enter your street address and the app will show you whether or not you are within the Marshall Road State School catchment. All students who live within the school catchment are automatically eligible for enrolment, once proof of residential address is supplied.
Students who live outside the catchment can express interest in enrolling but will only be enrolled if capacity exists and in order of receipt of an application. The Prep waiting list opens for out of catchment enrolments starting from the first pupil free day of the school year prior to your child's commencement for the following year.
Prep Information Session and Tours

Prep Transitions Sessions
At Marshall Road State School, we believe in strong partnerships between school and home help to ensure a successful transition to school. To this end, we hold a number of transition sessions throughout Term 4 to encourage children to become familiar with our school environment, teachers and the cohort of children they will be playing and learning with. During our transition sessions, we also hold information sessions for parents to help you understand the ins and outs of school life and to help ensure a smooth transition to school for your family. One of our experienced early years teachers also makes visits to local kindergartens to gain valuable insight into your children's needs and how we can best assist them with a strong start to their schooling.
Playgroup
Our school runs a MRSS Owlets playgroup for 0 – 5 years children on Friday mornings from 9am – 10:30amm throughout the year. If you are interested in attending this program, please contact the office admin@marshallroadss.eq.edu.au for more details.
