School dress code

PublishingPageContent

Marshall Road State School is a uniform school. See Dress code for students (PDF, 20KB)

We have the support of our Parents and Citizens’ Association to promote adherence to the uniform.  Our student dress code consists of an agreed standard and items of clothing, which includes a school uniform that Marshall Road State School students wear when:

  • attending or representing their school
  • travelling to and from school
  • engaging in school activities out of school hours.

In circumstances where inappropriate or unreasonable dress is worn, appropriate action will be taken.

Parents/Caregivers can be notified by letter that their child is not complying with the school dress code.

Labelling uniforms – missing uniforms

Parents are asked to ensure that all articles of clothing whether part of a school uniform or not, are clearly marked with the student’s name. It is not uncommon for there to be more than 10 identical jackets or hats in the school lost property bin under A Block.

Free dress day

Once per term the Principal may approve a Student Council request for a free-dress day. For these days direction will be given as to appropriate standards of dress for students.

Exceptions

Certain school activities may permit or require exceptions to the dress code e.g. 'whites' for cricket, special T-shirts for instrumental music or graduating classes.  In these cases expectations will be clearly communicated to students.
